I’m a virgin, can I use a menstrual cup?

Quite frankly, so many people have the wrong understanding of virginity. To most cultures, virginity means a broken hymen. We believe that girls and women should have comfortable periods. For this reason, we respect everyone’s menstrual experience. But first, let us talk about the hymen and the false myths about virginity.
Can a menstrual cup break my hymen?
Most people think that a virgin should have an intact hymen. And for the following reasons, this is not true;
1) The hymen only covers part of the vagina.
When you start menstruating, the blood has to be able to pass through the vagina. If the hymen covered your enter vagina, where would your menstrual fluid pass?
2) Different girls have different hymens.
Some girls are born without a hymen. If we use the hymen as the basis of virginity, does that mean some girls are born not virgins?
3) The hymen is elastic.
When you are ready to have sex, the penis can just slide past your hymen and stretch it without breaking it.
This is why you can fold a menstrual cup and slide it inside your vagina without breaking your hymen. It’s important to get a menstrual cup fold that you’re comfortable with.
However, it is also possible for the menstrual cup to break or punch your hymen.
Shall I lose my virginity if I use a menstrual cup?
No, you only lose your virginity when you have sex! As we’ve learnt, using a menstrual cup can interfere with your hymen because a cup can ‘stretch’ your hymen. The hymen can also break from doing activities like yoga, dancing, horseback riding, riding a bicycle…basically your hymen can be broken by just living your life.
Simply put, your hymen can break for so many reasons but does not mean you have lost your virginity. You can only lose your virginity by having sex.
